Types of Chevy ADAS Systems
There are many different types of Chevrolet ADAS systems, all of which have different calibration needs. Here are just a few of the Chevy ADAS systems you may encounter in customer vehicles.
Forward Collision Alert & Automatic Emergency Braking
Forward Collision Alert warns drivers about potential impacts by using sensors to detect the speed and distance of the vehicle ahead. It can also warn drivers if they are tailgating the vehicle ahead of them. During the day and at speeds less than 50 mph, Automatic Emergency Braking can automatically apply hard braking to help lessen or prevent front-end collisions.
Front Pedestrian Braking
At speeds of less than 50 mph during daylight, Front Pedestrian Braking can identify pedestrians and help prevent or lessen an impact by automatically applying the brakes or enhancing the driver’s braking.
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Lane Keep Assist briefly and gently turns the steering wheel to alert the driver that they may be drifting out of detected lane lines. Additional lane departure warnings may be given if the driver doesn’t make corrections. If the driver uses the turn signal, the alerts don’t come on.
Following Distance Indicator
The Following Distance Indicator shows the driver, in seconds, how far behind the car ahead of them they are. This can help the driver decide whether they are too close.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive Cruise Control maintains a vehicle’s speed while also keeping a set distance between itself and the vehicle ahead. While the vehicle can speed up and slow down as necessary to keep both the distance and speed, the driver must still steer.
Rear Vision Camera
Rear Vision Camera shows the driver the view behind the vehicle while it’s in reverse at low speeds. It helps drivers avoid objects and safely park or pull out of a parking spot.
High-Definition Surround Vision
Using multiple cameras around the vehicle, High-Definition Surround Vision helps give drivers a digital overhead view of the area around the vehicle along with front views or a Rear Vision Camera, which can assist with parking.
Chevy Safety Assist
Chevy Safety Assist is standard on 2020 Equinox and 2021 Trailblazer. It combines six of the most advanced safety features:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Following Distance Indicator
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Intellibeam® Auto High Beam Assist
